I just crossed the finish line of marathon #3 in Australia—4 hours and 18 minutes of running like mad. This time, I ran for a young man named Joe. Joe has been battling illness and has been bedridden since birth. With every mile today, I thought of him. His strength inspired me to push harder than I thought possible.
Next up is marathon #4 in Turkey. As part of this journey—7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents—I’ve been dedicating each run to someone who cannot physically race. It’s a reminder of the blessings I have, and it drives me forward even when the pain sets in.
I’m surrounded by experienced marathoners who’ve trained for years and conquered countless races. Watching them struggle alongside me reminds me that we all face our “hard.” For some, it’s running a single mile; for others, it’s taking on 26.2 miles. No matter the training, 7 marathons in 7 days pushes every human body to its limit.
For me, it’s not just physical. My mental strength and love for people have carried me through so far. Knowing there are people who can’t run, no matter how much they’d want to, tugs at my heart. I run BECAUSE I CAN. I walk, run, speak, and travel because I’m fortunate enough to do so. The thought of not using these gifts to their fullest potential keeps me going, even when my body protests.
I’m in pain, and honestly, I don’t know how I’ll push through four more races, totaling 104 miles. But we’re about to find out what’s truly possible when you tap into the power of your mind.
I hope this inspires you to take on something you believe is impossible—because YOU can.
Much love,
Justin
