You may have noticed that every piece of Chaos & Kindness clothing is designed using exactly 5 colors. Never less, never more — exactly 5 colors.
The 5 colors honor the 5 people, (an average of 5.45), who die by suicide every hour in America.
Think about that, 5 lives are lost every single hour in this country, that’s a staggering average of 120 lives per day.
Our creative team includes aspiring artists, individuals labeled “disabled”, and in-house designers, and every design will pay tribute to the lives which have been lost to the tragedy of suicide. A percentage of all Chaos & Kindness profits is shared among grassroots organizations who are working in mental health services and suicide prevention. Every time you wear a Chaos & Kindness design, you are honoring the 5 lives lost each hour. And with every purchase, you’re directly supporting the organizations who are making a real difference at the ground level, and saving lives.
A LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS
At our Chaos & Kindness locations, every night at 10 PM EST, a 300 lb, 10,000 watt beam of light can be seen for miles in all directions. The light in the sky shines to represent the 120 people who die by suicide in America, on one single day.
For 120 minutes, from 10 PM until 12 AM, we light up the sky from our stores to tribute and honor the lives lost too soon by this unthinkable tragedy. A reminder of how fragile life is, a symbol that we are not alone, a beacon of hope — that we all need to find the light in the darkness.
