This is Jaylyn, and tonight she is doing something that she didn’t feel was possible, graduating. I didn’t know Jaylyn until 2 hours ago. I received a message from her mother sharing her story with me. Jaylyn has been through a LOT. She attends the same high school I did, Goffstown High School in New Hampshire. Her father hasn’t been around, she has battled severe depression and has essentially given up on herself. Her story has so many tragic elements and I’ll leave those for her to share. Today I wanted to do something meaningful that would have a lasting impact. So I drove back to the town I grew up in, surprised Jaylyn and her family. I then had the privilege to drive her to her graduation in my new fancy car. she loved it! The whole drive I asked questions about her struggles, her future and shared some words I hope will help her. She was accepted to college and will start in the fall pursuing her dream of working with Animals. She says animals love you for you and don’t judge you. That hit home. Not every success story is measured by grades on a report card, this one is measured by her fight, her families support and her incredible comeback to this moment. Everyone is equal, everyone has a story and for Jaylyn her story closes a chapter tonight and her next chapter begins. Congratulations Jaylyn you’re one beautiful young lady. It was wonderful to meet you.
