Carrie is an artist at Art Inspired Academy in Missouri. She is an athlete and has many different skills and abilities. Carrie participates in many sports, even at age 46, and had the opportunity to participate in the Special Olympics World Summer Games in track and field and was a torch bearer for the World Winter Games in Alaska. Carrie loves to do art and theater through the Art Inspired Academy, but especially loves helping the younger children with RidgeCrest Babtist Church. While Carrie has a developmental disability she has not allowed it to slow her down or keep her from doing things she loves.

Art Inspired Academy offers the opportunity for individuals with and without disabilities to participate in creative arts classes such as theatre, movement, music enrichment and art. They provide inclusive classes in a community setting that collaborates with existing programs and provides support for individuals with disabilities. At Art Inspired Academy, they provide support based on an individual’s abilities. Participants express themselves through artistic experiences while working on goals to improve communication, motor skills, social skills, self-control and confidence.
